Now there are two ways of using your ball-holder: with this umbrella-swift attachment, you can turn your yarn-holder into a fully-fledged swift. Once you have finished winding a skein into a ball, you can remove the swift attachment and use the ball-holder for your yarn. Developed by knittybitty in cooperation with a Thuringian master wood-turner. A true woodwork masterpiece, cleverly conceived and flawlessly implemented.

You mount the attachment via a wing nut at the bottom edge just above the base of the ball-holder. The folding arms are made from smooth plywood, fitted with tubular rivets and can be individually adjusted precisely to the diameter of the yarn skein by moving the respective opposite sides. Then this position is fixed by tightening another wing nut at the top of the swift, and the swift is ready for use. Afterwards, it can be folded up and only needs a small amount of storage space. The yarn-holder cannot be damaged by the wing nuts, because only a half-turn is necessary to create the traction to the yarn-holder and the rotary disk. The folding arms are locked in place on the swift itself.
Manufactured in Thuringia from indigenous wood from the same master wood-turner who makes the ball-holders.
